How to export Apple Freeform boards to Excalidraw

Apple Freeform has no native editable export. BoardEject converts your copied Freeform selection into an editable Excalidraw file, locally in your browser. No account, no board uploads.

Steps

Select objects in Apple Freeform and press Cmd+C.
Click Import copied selection on BoardEject. The Mac helper reads one clipboard snapshot after this click.
Review the conversion report and preview.
Download the .excalidraw file and open it in Excalidraw.

What transfers

Supported shapes, text, tables, images, ink, and connectors from genuine Freeform 4.5 captures become movable, editable Excalidraw elements. Only a verified subset is supported, so keep your original board and inspect the report. See support and limitations.

Does Freeform have a built-in Excalidraw export?

No. Freeform offers print and PDF output, not editable vector export. That is the gap BoardEject fills.

Is my board uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion runs in your browser with the localhost helper. There is no account and no cloud storage. See the privacy policy.

Can I try it without a Mac?

Yes. Choose Try example board on the homepage or test an existing capture file in the capture tester.

Can I import the result back into Freeform?

No. Restore and write-back into Apple Freeform are not supported. BoardEject is an escape route out of Freeform, plus a verified local archive option for backups.
